The University of Twente

The University of Twente (UT) has a deserved reputation as "the entrepreneurial university" thanks to its dynamic role it has played over many years in encouraging and sponsoring innovative spin-off companies and activities. Established in 1961 the UT is one of the youngest universities in the Netherlands. The UT distinguishes itself from other universities in the Netherlands by combining technology and social studies, in education as well as research. Through its support and guiding policies, the UT has played a leading role in the development of the BSP. An example of the influence of the UT can be seen in the BTC Twinnnig Center Twente, a collection of businesses within a single building at the BSP.
