The stimulus behind Twente's economic boom

The Business & Science Park (BSP) is a high value industrial park for knowledge intensive companies, businesses that specialize in services, as well as for the University of Twente that is directly adjacent the park. The BSP itself measures 40 hectare and is situated on the edge of Enschede, between the two largest cities of the region of Twente, Enschede and Hengelo.

Being located along the strategically important East-West corridor leading from Amsterdam to Berlin, the region of Twente is considered one of the most important economic centers of the Netherlands. It is a so-called "Euregio" area that is characterized by a strong international orientation, extremely high measure of company loyalty and work ethics among the available work force, and a beneficial living and working climate.

Enschede, with its roughly 150,000 residents is the largest city of the province of Overijssel and the eleventh largest city in the Netherlands. It forms a strategic triangle with the nearby German cities of Münster and Osnabrück and is located on the point of an international road and rail connection. Enschede profiles itself especially by its education and scientific institutions, as well as being a culture and recreation haven with an abundance of music, museums, drama and movie theaters. It is a lively and living city, as well as providing ample space and possibilities for businesses, offices, and service centers. In addition to the University of Twente, with its internationally oriented education and research possibilities, Enschede offers professional vocational training through the Professional College (Hogeschool) Enschede, as well as other training institutions.
